A College of Business Administration club has received more than $8,000 in grant money to improve the lives of Pomona-area residents and empower small businesses. The grant money encompasses four different projects that must be completed before the end of the school year. It is an ambitious effort for the 18 members of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) but club President Misael Hernandez says they are up for the challenge.

Mercer Scholarship Recipients 2011-12
Accounting students Alexa Koch and Bernice Rose have a knack for math but figuring out how they are going to pay for college won't require any special formulas or calculations. The tuition and fees they will pay for the 2011-12 school year: $0. Koch and Rose are the inaugural recipients of the D. Scott Mercer Scholarship, a fund aimed at high achieving students and military veterans in the College of Business Administration.

Students participating in Cyber Camp
Faced with an extreme shortage of workers who can protect our network infrastructure, Cal Poly Pomona has announced that it will offer free intensive training to 35 people with a special talent in cybersecurity. These individuals will attend the 2nd Annual California Cyber Challenge Camp July 11-15 at Cal Poly Pomona. Participants will learn at the camp how to detect unwanted network intrusions and get firsthand experience evaluating network security through simulated attacks, among other topics.
