Scholarships for 2011 – 2012 Academic Year

Each of the scholarships listed below must be applied for at the CIS Department Office.  All applications will be reviewed by the appropriate scholarship committee and awards announced once decisions have been made.

Boeing CIS General Scholarships

Boeing is the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined.  Boeing is providing support of one or more $1,000 awards to provide financial assistance to undergraduate Computer Information Systems students.

Boeing CIS Scholarship Criteria:

  • Cal Poly Pomona and overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Declared concentration in the Computer Information Systems
  • Registered for a full-time course load (Spring Qtr)
  • U.S. Citizen

Edison IT Audit Scholarships

Southern California Edison is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States.  The IT Audit Department is offering one or more $625 scholarships to undergraduate CIS students who have completed the CIS 433 IS Audit class with a B or better  and are interested in pursuing a career in IT Audit.  In addition, your Cal Poly and overall GPA must be above 3.0.

Criteria

  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and in good standing
  • Declared concentration in the Computer Information Systems
  • Registered for a full-time course load (Spring Qtr)
  • At least Junior status (90 quarter units completed)
  • Completed CIS 433 IS Audit with a letter grade of “B” or better

Boeing Center for Information Assurance Cyber Security Scholarships for CIS, CS, and ECE Undergraduates

Each of the scholarships listed below must be applied for at the CIS Department Office.  All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of CIS, Computer Science, and Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty.  The Committee will select the awardees and announce awards once decisions have been made.

Boeing is the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined.  Boeing is providing support of $4,000 for (4) $1,000 awards to provide financial assistance to undergraduate Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering students who demonstrate knowledge in and are interested in pursuing a career in Cyber Security.  

Boeing CIS Cyber Security Scholarship Criteria:

  • Must be a continuing Cal Poly Pomona student and have reached junior status, at least one quarter prior to the scholarship award timeline, and be in good standing with the University.
  • Declared concentration in the College of Business Administration with a Computer Information Systems option or major in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Completed coursework in Cyber Security or related courses with a letter grade of "B" or better.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits of undergraduate academic work.
  • Students are required to complete a personal statement (500 word maximum) describing the value of receiving the Boeing Scholarship with emphasis on career goals in Cyber Security. The personal statement must contain university and community involvement.
  • Include an unofficial transcript.
  • U.S. Citizen
