COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Internship integrates classroom and textbook theory with
practical experience in industry. It is a planned program
that is based on the interest and needs of the student
and the industrial employer. The student work is related
to tasks within the FRL fields. Ideally the work experience
will increase in difficulty and challenge as the student
progresses through the academic curriculum. Emphasis is
placed on the students' receiving a new learning experience;
one that would not be available via traditional classroom
means.
The Internship Program is on-the-job training or internship
with a business to gain a new learning experience. Allocation
of unit credit is dependent upon the nature of the work
done, the level of responsibility and the number of hours
worked. For qualifying internships the student receives
one credit for each 120 hours on the job. The FRL Department
offers majors an opportunity to receive credit for work
experience in their Junior or Senior year through the
internship program. In FRL 441 and 442 four (4) units
may be petitioned into group A and an additional 4 units
used as Unrestricted Electives. A written report is required.
A classroom presentation is suggested.
AM I ELIGIBLE?:
You must be a junior or senior. You must have a minimum
GPA of 2.5 in FRL, 2.0 overall. And, most of your core

learning opportunity.
