The Uniqueness of Cal Poly Pomona
| Home | About Us | Programs of Study | External Program | Admission | Student Resources |

Since its inception more than 50 years ago, Cal Poly Pomona has emphasized curriculum programs that reflect the needs of the industries that will employ its graduates. As a result, Cal Poly students learn practical information and concepts that they can put to use on the job immediately.

Colleges and universities are faced with a difficult challenge. They can either extend the time it takes to get an education, pare curriculum to an achievable plateau, or introduce areas of specialization. The College of Business Administration has chosen a unique combination of these alternatives.

Through a creative Career MBA program, students may choose a specialized area of emphasis that is closely aligned to their chosen career goals. If one of the 11 standard areas of specialization does not suit students in more narrowly defined occupations, they can, with the help of their Graduate advisor and the Career Emphasis faculty advisor, design a custom career MBA emphasis.

Since the majority of Cal Poly's MBA students work full time and attend classes part time, all of the MBA courses are held in the evening or on weekends. This permits students more time to absorb the business principles they are studying, and allows them to immediately test concepts they have learned in the classroom by applying them on the job.

The College of Business Administration also offers the general MBA program for those with more broad or undefined career goals. Required courses for the general MBA are often offered off campus at a variety of locations throughout Southern California for the convenience of participants.

Cal Poly Pomona is the eighth largest university in Southern California. The College of Business Administration is the largest of six colleges at Cal Poly and among the largest business institutions in California. Of the nearly 5,000 students majoring in business, about 500 are in the graduate program. The graduate business faculty at Cal Poly represents a dedication to quality instruction. Business professors often perform consulting work within their fields, are active scholars, belong to professional organizations, and participate in industry advisory groups. This ensures that their experience and our curriculum programs are not only current, but geared towards future requirements of students and industry.
