The College of Business Administration recognizes the importance of incorporating computer technology into graduate education to prepare professionals for today's business environment. To accommodate this objective, students accepted to the MBA/MSBA Programs are required to obtain a notebook computer prior to the start of classes. The use of notebook computers will be incorporated into your MBA/MSBA Programs here at Cal Poly Pomona.

To assist you in your notebook computer selection, please obtain a system that meets the following minimum configuration:

  • Intel P4 or AMD Athlon, 1.4gHz or faster
  • 256 MB Ram
  • 40.0 GB HD
  • DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive
  • Floppy Disk Drive
  • 56K Data/Fax/Modem
  • 10/100 Ethernet Card
  • Optional but Recommended: Wireless Network Card
  • Operating System: Windows XP
Suggested Computer Sources

You may obtain your computer from any vendor of your choice. The California State University System represents over 270,000 students and as such, has negotiated with commercial vendors to provide students with excellent prices. The web site to shop for your notebook from the CSU System vendors is pcadmin.calstate.edu. IBM, Compaq Hewlett Packard and Dell are represented on this site with the opportunity to contact each vendor directly. You may also contact the Cal Poly bookstore. They will work with your customized specifications and provide you with a competitively priced unit from a brand-name vendor. For more information on the bookstore, click here.

Students may purchase a notebook computer from any store as long as it meets the minimum configuration stated above.
