Cal Poly Pomona

Points of Distinction

The College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona (CBA) is a recognized leader in undergraduate and graduate business education. With over 4,700 students, the CBA is one of the largest business schools in the region and within the CSU system. Some of the achievements in the 35-year history of the College include:

  • Since 1995, the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona has been accredited by AACSB International – a hallmark of excellence achieved by less than one-third of the nation's four-year business programs. This accreditation assures quality and promotes excellence and continuous improvement in business education.
  • In 2003, Cal Poly Pomona became the first university in Southern California and the first within the CSU system whose Information Assurance curriculum – offered at the CBA – was certified by the National Security Agency and the Committee on National Security Systems for training information systems security professionals. The College now grants certificates to students who complete this curriculum.
  • Valued at $5.3 million, the 2002 software gift from PeopleSoft is a unique, Web-based resource for teaching enterprise computing, which will serve as a platform for future cross-disciplinary integration of the business curriculum.
  • According to the 2002 U.S. Department of Education data, CBA ranks 7th nationally in awarding bachelor degrees in business to minority students.
  • In 2004, the Contract Management Certification and Accreditation Board (CMCAB) of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) has certified our Contract Management curriculum as academically qualifying to prepare for the Certified Federal Contracts (CFCM), and Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) examinations. This accreditation makes Cal Poly Pomona one of only three universities in the nation – and the only one west of the Mississippi – to offer curriculum and courses that automatically satisfy the academic prerequisite requirements for these examinations.
  • Established in 1969, CBA's Computer Information Systems (CIS) program is the oldest business-oriented four-year degree program of this kind in the nation.
  • In 2000, the Management of Technology career track option became the first of its kind to be offered in the CSU system.
  • Our Bachelor's degree in Business Administration offers a remarkably wide range of 10 concentration options – from Accounting to Real Estate to Marketing to Operations Management.
  • CBA offers a choice between a general, broad-based MBA and an MBA with a concentration in a specific discipline. The off-campus Professional MBA program is administered at nine sites in the region. Our unique Master of Science in Business Administration (MSBA) degree provides an option in Information Systems Auditing.
