Volunteer Oportunities

It is time to come back to Cal Poly Pomona – as a volunteer

  • for the University through the Alumni In-Reach Program
  • for the College of Business Administration
  • for the academic departments
  • for current students and student clubs
  • for new student recruiting

Professor for a Day

Established in 1995 by the CBA, this program is now held throughout the University each fall and spring. Spring 1998 Professor for a Day hosted almost 100 guest professors in classes all over campus. come visit one or more classes within your CBA major – or one that most closely fits your current occupation. Share your experiences along your career path, and the choices that were available to you after you earned your CBA degree in Business Administration. Then join fellow guest professors and your host professor for lunch at the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.

Career Mentoring

On-line or in person. Long distance from campus doesn't stop our committed alumni from volunteering. The Career Center will match you up with a student who wants to be just like you when he or she graduates. Fill out a simple form describing your job and responsibilities and be prepared for good feelings as you help a student evaluate career options.

Job Shadowing

Short distance from campus is a must for this activity. Host a student at your job site and share what you really do all day. The Career Center will work out the details.

Speakers Bureau

Students clubs meet weekly at lunch time, and they are always looking for someone to come speak to their group about careers, job searches, interviewing skills, or just balancing work and home life.

Student Recruitment

Share your positive experiences as a student at Cal Poly Pomona by representing the campus at your local high school or community college, accompanied by a CBA staff or faculty member. The CBA will give you all the information you need, including numbers to call to answer the really specific questions.

Academic Department Advisory Boards

Each department has, or will soon have a group of alumni and business leaders who serve as liaisons to business and industry. Board members provide first-hand insight on market and technology trends that affect the curriculum. The CBA must be connected to act quickly to evaluate these changes and, if appropriate, incorporate them.
